Trent Alexander-Arnold says Arne Slot does something at Liverpool that always makes him smile

Arne Slot has got off to a better start at Liverpool than anyone could have expected him to.

Indeed, the Dutchman has been incredible as the new Liverpool boss. He’s taken the Reds to the top of the Premier League and the top of the Champions League already this season.

Liverpool are the first team to qualify in the Champions League from the League Phase to the Knockout stage, and they will be hoping to continue their title push domestically too.

Trent Alexander-Arnold hails Arne Slot’s detail

Alexander-Arnold spoke about life under Slot.

The defender says that he’s really enjoying playing under Slot, claiming that he often finds himself smiling about the level of detail his manager goes into when plotting strategies and tactics for the team.

“You know change is coming, but how big is it going to be?” Alexander-Arnold pondered.

“You don’t anticipate what to expect, because when you don’t know someone and you haven’t really seen much of their work – if I’m being honest – it’s unfair and it’s hard to base your opinions on that.

“But the level of detail he has… I find myself smiling about it because that’s the kind of thing that I really enjoy. It’s just football in like a very, very in-depth level.

“I could tell from the first time I met him that I was going to enjoy playing under him and being a part of this. I’m feeling like I’m going to get better and improve and learn so much in such a short space of time and just keep on learning, because I could tell he was football obsessed and the level of detail was incredible.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stats compared to last season.

Alexander-Arnold told Slot that he wants to improve defensively, and the Dutchman has helped him make that happen as Liverpool now boast a seriously mean defensive record.

On an individual level, it’s easy to see where Alexander-Arnold has improved too. He’s now much harder to get past one vs one and he’s more disciplined positionally.

The numbers reflect that. While Alexander-Arnold’s attacking output is down on last season, he’s making significantly more tackles this term.

Alexander-Arnold is now, perhaps for the first time, fitting the mould of a more traditional right-back, and, interestingly, it is really suiting this Liverpool side.

The Reds are flying at the moment, and Alexander-Arnold is playing a huge part in that.
