The Portuguese attacker scored just three times for Liverpool in 21 competitive appearances since joining the club in the summer of 2022 and had loan spells at RB Leipzig and Hull City last season.
Carvalho was dubbed as a ‘special’ talent by Tyler Morton, with the Liverpool youngster also spending the 2023-24 campaign on loan at the Championship club.
Fabio Carvalho’s Liverpool departure the best decision for all parties
The Portuguese youngster played as a left-winger for Liverpool in the absence of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, who missed the US tour owing to their involvements at the Copa America 2024 and Euro 2024 respectively.
With Liverpool adequately stacked in attack, Carvalho would have found it difficult to break into the starting XI this season, making a transfer the best solution for all parties involved.
The Reds have made a sizable profit on a player they signed for £7.7m in the summer of 2022 and Carvalho’s versatility should allow him to flourish in a Brentford team that plays a brand of free-flowing attacking football under Thomas Frank.
