Trent Alexander-Arnold names the ‘amazing’ Liverpool prospect who’ll have a ‘bright future’

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has described Anfield youngster Neco Williams as an “amazing talent” who’ll have a “bright future”, in conversation with the Reds .

Williams joined Liverpool’s academy as a six-year-old and has progressed through the ranks, culminating in a great breakthrough season last time out.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut in the Reds’ League Cup tie with Arsenal last October, which the Merseysiders won on penalties after an exhilarating 5-5 draw.

Williams went on to make a further 10 first-team appearances, six of which came in the Premier League, and also claimed a medal as part of the triumphant FIFA Club World Cup squad.

Over the summer, the young right-back penned a new long-term contract with Liverpool, debuted – and scored – for Wales, and featured in the Community Shield.

“Neco is an amazing talent, he is someone who we all look to as being someone who can play for the club for a long amount of time and will have a bright future no matter what,” Alexander-Arnold told .

“I think he is on the right path, for sure. Mentally, he’s ahead of people his age, he’s getting the right experience in training; playing against the best players in the world can only improve you.

“So, all the young players at the club will be looking up to people like Neco and trying to push to be in that position to be up at Melwood and training with the first team all the time.

“He showed at the back end of last season he’s good enough to be given the chance and hopefully he’ll be able to kick on.”
