Trent Alexander-Arnold lauds Liverpool teammates Adrian, Kabak and Phillips

Trent Alexander-Arnold has lauded Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips for helping Liverpool keep a clean sheet at Sheffield United on Sunday, that Adrian did an unbelievable job in goal.

Jurgen Klopp handed yet another centre-back pairing their first start together at Bramall Lane, with Phillips – who replaced Jordan Henderson in the Merseyside derby – coming into the side alongside the January signing.

Meanwhile, Adrian was also handed a rare start. The football world was rocked by the devastating news concerning Alisson Becker’s father last week. And understandably, the Brazilian was not in a place to play.

Some may have wondered whether that back three would boost the Blades’ hopes of causing an upset. However, Liverpool kept a clean sheet on their way to a 2-0 win.

There were some nervy moments. Adrian – who earns £50,000-a-week, – made a couple of important saves early on. But Alexander-Arnold lauded the trio, with the Spaniard receiving particular praise from the right-back.

“A clean sheet from a fairly young backline, Ozan and Nat have come in when they’ve needed to this season and performed really well. And they’ve done that again today,” . “Obviously, shoutout to Adrian, coming in quite late on and doing an unbelievable job.”

The win at Bramall Lane could be reflected upon as hugely significant come the end of the season. It leaves the Reds just two points off the top four.

Of course, there is some way to go. And there are a number of teams below Liverpool who will also set their sights on West Ham’s current spot.

But if Klopp’s men can now have some luck with injuries, they surely stand a fantastic chance of making the best out of what has been an incredibly tough season on Merseyside.
