Tottenham’s early predicted XI vs Crystal Palace… Postecoglou switches it up, ‘fantastic’ £39m man is back

After a break in games at Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou will surely accept nothing but a win against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Postecoglou’s side have already had a light schedule this season, bowing out of domestic competitions fairly early on.

And the whole squad now must be itching to return, determined to improve on a mixed run of performances in February.

Ultimately it did feel as if the warning signs had existed for a while before Spurs eventually lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.

But with a crucial duo likely to return for Tottenham against Palace this weekend, there’s fresh reason for Postecoglou to be optimistic.

And for that game, The Boot Room expects that Postecoglou will therefore make at least two changes to the side that lost against Wolves.

Ange Postecoglou could welcome back Tottenham defender Pedro Porro against Palace

Having been spotted reporting at Hotspur Way this week, there’s reason to believe that both Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie will be fit to start Saturday’s game.

Ben Davies and Emerson Royal struggled to adapt to Postecoglou’s fairly unique inverted full-back role against Wolves, and therefore seem likely to lose their spots.

Of course, Postecoglou seemingly has two other key decisions to make when Palace visit the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this weekend.

The Spurs boss will need to choose two of Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.

It’s feasible to imagine that any two of those three could start, even if Bentancur has admitted that he’s been disappointed with his own form.

Competition in attack

And perhaps Postecoglou’s other difficult decision will be on the right wing.

It would seem harsh for Dejan Kulusevski to lose his spot, but with Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson waiting in the wings there’s plenty of competition.

Perhaps it’s not even unfeasible to think James Maddison could move out wide on occasion too, even if Ange would prefer to keep him central.

In terms of an injury update, Postecoglou is expected to appear for his Tottenham press conference on Friday, the day before Palace arrive.

But as of now it seems that only Fraser Forster and Ryan Sessegnon will definitely miss the game.

Manor Solomon has seemingly stepped up his work over this break, and will hopefully return in March.
