Tottenham willing to wait until future transfer windows to sign ‘terrific’ midfielder to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer window has largely consisted of player departures with just one week to go.

Ange Postecoglou has now seen double digit departure from north London over recent weeks ahead of the new campaign.

Ashley Phillips is the latest player to leave Tottenham with the centre-back securing a loan move away to Stoke City on Friday.

There is still time for the Lilywhites to finalise any last pieces of business when it comes to players arriving into the club.

But it seems there is one specific player who is looking likely to be a player who Spurs revist over the coming transfer windows.

Tottenham being patient over midfield target

Spurs have been able to bring in five new faces this summer with just a matter of days now separating them and the closure of the summer market.

Midfielders have departed the club this summer and Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes recently.

But there is another midfielder who is on Tottenham’s radar as a long-term option for the Lilywhites who they’d be willing to wait until future windows for.

According to , Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney is a player of real interest to Tottenham.

However, the Championship outfit are not willing to deal with any offers for the 22-year-old midfielder with only a week remaining in the transfer window.

But this is not an issue for the Lilywhites who would be willing to bide their time with Hackney and continue to scout the Englishman over the coming months.

It is believed the ‘terrific‘ midfielder is viewed as a potential long-term replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who left for Marseille this summer.

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Tottenham making more signings

Tottenham did not exactly get off to the perfect start on Monday night with the Lilywhites only able to come away with a point from their game against Leicester City.

But it does not seem as if the underwhelming start to the season, it does not seem as if Spurs are going to rush back into the transfer market.

“Yeah look probably a couple more will go out, but we’ve done a fair bit of work over the last 12 months in terms of the squad,” Postecoglou told .

“As much as the focus has been on getting guys in, we’ve changed the squad a fair bit, brought down the demographic a fair way. We’ve brought in footballers who are more better suited to play the football we want to play moving forwards.

“So, there has been a lot of work done in that area from our perspective, but with a week to go there is still a little bit to do.”
