Tottenham were hoping Crystal Palace would sign £32m player on deadline day with Ange Postecoglou ready to sell

TBR Football understands that Tottenham Hotspur had been hoping Crystal Palace would take Sergio Reguilon, however, the Eagles are now set to sign Ben Chilwell.

Reguilon is free to leave Spurs in the final hours of the transfer window having failed to ever work his way into Ange Postecoglou’s plans in North London.

The Spanish defender has played five times for Tottenham all season despite the club having a major injury crisis on their hands.

The Lilywhites aren’t completely against keeping him given their injury situation, however, they have been trying to move him on with Palace on the hunt for a left-back.

Tottenham wanted to shift Sergio Reguilon to Crystal Palace

Tottenham have tried to shift Sergio Reguilon to Crystal Palace before they made their move to sign Ben Chilwell, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

The Lilywhites have Destiny Udogie soon to return from injury and with Djed Spence also impressing at left-back they are now well-stocked in that area.

Therefore, they are keen to get the player’s wages off the book as they are set to keep paying the remainder of his salary until his contract expires in the summer.

Selhurt Park was an option for the 28-year-old, however, Palace are instead set to sign Chilwell from Chelsea.

Tottenham keen on Marc Guehi but face one major hurdle

TBR Football have been informed that Tottenham have a long-standing interest in Marc Guehi and have been tracking him all month.

However, the issue the North London club have had is that they have not received much encouragement from Palace or the defender, who is keen to stay in South London.

Guehi is keeping his head down until the summer and has not been pushing to leave this month, even when Chelsea looked at him.

Spurs had been eyeing a move for Axel Disasi on loan as they look to bring in another defender after confirming the signing of Kevin Danso from Lens.

However, that move now appears to be off with Disasi preferring a move to Aston Villa.
