Report: Tottenham identify £25m title-winner as summer signing; he’ll fill key position for Conte
Tottenham are said to be keen on signing Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso this summer, with the Spanish club apparently ready to sell the Spaniard.
reports how Hermoso has been added to Spurs’ list of potential signings this summer as Antonio Conte looks to bring in a left-footed defender who can play alongside Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.
Ben Davies has done well in the back three but it is well known that Conte wants new signings. One of the key positions Conte wants to address is that left centre-back role, with Hermoso now on his list, according to the
claims Hermoso has emerged as a target for Tottenham after losing his place in the Atleti side. He arrived with the Spanish giants for around £25m, and is approaching the appearance mark with Los Rojos Blancos. He has won the Spanish title with Atleti, while being capped five times by Spain in the process.
TBR’s View: Hermoso Fits The Bill For Tottenham
In terms of left-side central defenders, Tottenham will do well to identify many who are better suited than Mario Hermoso. He is a class act on his day and under the guidance of the savvy Diego Simeone, he has done well with Atleti.
At 26, he is of the right age to improve further but also bring the experience needed to play under a coach like Antonio Conte and flourish.
It remains to be seen what sort of price Atletico will look to bring in for Hermoso. However, if it’s around the £25m mark they paid, then it could be a good deal for Paratici and his transfer team.
