Tottenham told they have a player who’ll become ‘one of the best in the world’ after latest Euro 2024 display
Tottenham Hotspur have been told they have a player who will become ‘one of the best’ in the world in his position.
Spurs have just four players at Euro 2024 this summer and they have enjoyed a mostly positive start to the tournament in Germany.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s Denmark were held to a 1-1 draw against Slovenia on the weekend while Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven got off the winning starts with Italy and the Netherlands, respectively.
But Radu Dragusin undoubtedly enjoyed the best opener of the four as he played the full 90 minutes in Romania’s shock 3-0 win over Ukraine yesterday.
The 22-year-old put in a commanding performance at centre-back, earning praise from Spurs teammate James Maddison on social media.
And one of his Romanian teammates, Nicolae Stanciu, who opened the scoring on Monday with a stunning effort from range, has made a huge claim about the Tottenham defender.

Speaking to after Romania’s shock win over Ukraine, Stanciu was full of praise for Tottenham’s Dragusin.
“He’s amazing,” the Romanian midfielder said. “I know he’s still very young, he’s only 22. But I think he will be one of the best defenders in the world because I see him closely in training.
“I know he wants to improve, he wants to learn and I’m sure next season he will do everything to be in the starting line-up at Tottenham because he deserves it.”

Dragusin’s display vs Ukraine in numbers
Dragusin will be eager to impress this summer ahead of returning to Tottenham.
The centre-back was snapped up from Genoa in January but managed just nine appearances in the Premier League last season.
That’s largely down to the excellent partnership of Cristian Romero and Van de Ven. But Spurs seem to have picked up a very capable option to cover for the duo.
Following yesterday’s display, Dragusin has managed more clearances than any other player at Euro 2024 and the statistics from reflect what was a commanding performance at the back.
- 90 minutes played
- 10 clearances
- 2 blocked shots
- 1 interception
- 1/1 ground duels won
- 2/2 aerial duels won
- 16/18 passes completed
- 33 touches
