Tottenham told they could potentially sign Destiny Udogie competition who’s ‘one of the best’ about

Tottenham Hotspur’s start to the 2024/25 campaign has left a lot to be desired on the back of their latest result.

Ange Postecoglou will be going into the international break as a frustrated figure having seen his side throw away a 2-0 lead away to Brighton & Hove Albion.

In fact, the Tottenham boss even admitted Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Seagulls was the most frustrating result he has experienced since arriving at the club.

Some of Postecoglou’s comments after the Brighton loss have been questioned by the media with the Australian shunning the notion his substitutions should have come earlier.

But there could well be a suggestion made that more could have been done in the summer transfer window to strengthen this Tottenham side.

And now the sporting director of one European club has just admitted one of Tottenham’s summer targets could soon leave his club.

What Lecce’s sporting director just said about Patrick Dorgu

Destiny Udogie left a lot to be desired with his performance against Brighton on the weekend and has come under serious criticism since.

The Italy international, however, does not have a lot of competition for his spot at left-back with Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon his only two back-ups.

Djed Spence has featured at left-back but the Englishman has not been included in Tottenham’s Europa League squad.

One player who Tottenham have shown interest in is Patrick Dorgu of Lecce but were unable to land a deal over the summer.

But the Lecce sporting director, Stefano Trinchera, has now admitted Dorgu is a player who could move on in the near future.

“It’s not true that we had already sold him. He is one of our young players, who are being looked at by many important clubs,“ Trinchera told .

“Today we are all thinking about salvation, but Dorgu’s future is in his hands. He can arrive at a top club due to the qualities he has.”

Destiny Udogie needs left-back competition

After an impressive first season in north London, Udogie has not exactly had the best of starts to the 2024/25 campaign.

Tottenham do not have any like-for-like replacement for the Italian which means his spot in the starting XI is secure.

However, his defensive ability has seen him exposed down the left side so far this season even aside from the Brighton game on the weekend.

Udogie was also caught out for Newcastle United’s winning goal but will not come under pressure with Postecoglou only really having Spence and Davies to choose from the bench.

Clearly, Tottenham need to bring in some reinforcement over the January window and Dorgu is a player who has been dubbed ‘one of the best’.
