Tottenham told they can open talks to sign ‘strong’ defender if £16.8m bid is submitted

Tottenham have now been told what they need to do in order to open talks with a transfer target.

Spurs have just completed the signing of Min-hyeok Yang from Gangwon FC, with the South Korean wonderkid joining up with Ange Postecoglou‘s squad in January 2025.

Now, Tottenham have been told they can open talks over another signing if a bid of €20m (£16.8m) is made…

Tottenham told Michael Kayode price tag

A story from now claims that Fiorentina have told Tottenham talks can begin to sign Michael Kayode if £16.8m is put on the negotiating table.

Aston Villa are also bidding to sign the Fiorentina No.33 this summer, but have so far only offered €15m (£12.6m) to the Serie A side, an insufficient amount.

Newcastle are also said to be keen on signing Kayode this summer.

Corriere dello Sport explain that Emerson Royal is close to joining AC Milan, which means Postecoglou is on the lookout for a new full-back to replace the Brazil international.

Kayode – aged 20 – is emerging as a likely candidate to step into the South American’s place in N17 this summer, as the Italian news outlet believe Spurs have tracked the Italy U21 international for most of the transfer window.

Now Emerson is finally departing, it sounds as if Tottenham could step up their interest in the defender from Borgomanero – who has been called a “strong” player by Vincenzo Italiano.

The Italian DAZN: “Kayode has a strong character, he fears nothing and it’s important when you are this young.”

Spurs could oversee a very sensible deal

If Tottenham manage to successfully sell Emerson to AC Milan for the £17m asking price, and then spend £16.8m on Kayode as a replacement, this could prove to be superb business.

The Fiorentina No.33 is five years younger than the Brazilian, and has more room for growth, whereas Emerson seems to be the finished article already, according to Roy Keane at least.

A £17m sale to AC Milan and a £16.8m agreement with Fiorentina would also, of course, land Tottenham £200,000 profit, so there are very few negatives, all things considered.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Spurs could offer £16.8m for Kayode once AC Milan seal the signing of Emerson.
