‘I’m happy here’: Toby Alderweireld hints at staying with Tottenham
Tottenham central defender Toby Alderweireld has dropped a broad hint to the that he will stay at the club this summer.
The Belgian has a clause in his contract that allows him to move for £25 million during the transfer window, although that bizarre loophole expires on Thursday.
Alderweireld has played 159 games for Spurs since arriving at the club in 2015.

He has been linked to Manchester United previously but the 30-year-old is not thinking about leaving Tottenham.
Alderweireld was asked whether he saw himself in the famous white shirt on the first day of the season.
“Yes. That’s my focus. In football, everything can go quick but all I’m doing is focusing on Spurs and being fit for the start of the season.
The ex-Southampton enforcer was named as the captain as Tottenham defeated Juventus 3-2 in Singapore yesterday.
It is a role that he relishes and is keen to play a part for Mauricio Pochettino next season.
“I think the manager knows I am committed to the club and the team but you never know in football.

“A game like Sunday I was captain – so that shows the manager has trust in me and I’m showing the right attitude.
“My focus is on Spurs and I try to deliver the job I need to – I’m happy and that’s it. In my head, I will be playing for Spurs.”
TBR Verdict
These comments will surely delight those of a Tottenham persuasion.
Signings haven’t exactly been forthcoming this summer so keeping hold of Alderweireld would be massive.

The £80,000 per-week ace has been a good servant at the club in the four years he has been in North London and the fans clearly rate him.
Captaining the team yesterday will have given him a massive boost and his influence on the team is evident.
It will be a nervous few days between now and Thursday, but these latest quotes from Alderweireld drop a massive hint that he wants to stick with Pochettino’s team for the foreseeable.
