Tottenham to quickly step up interest in ‘amazing’ £30m centre-back

Tottenham Hotspur are very likely to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window in wake of a spate of injuries that have impacted on their form.

Ange Postecoglou appears especially likely to bring in reinforcements at centre-back. At present, both of Tottenham‘s first-choice players in that position – Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero – are out.

With Spurs clearly struggling when the two first-choice centre-backs are unavailable, bringing in reinforcements is clearly a must.

One player who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham is Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, one of Serie A’s most exciting young centre-backs.

has now reported that Spurs are expected to quickly step up their interest in the ‘amazing’ 21-year-old as an alternative to Jean-Clair Todibo.

Nice are seemingly ‘hopeful of hanging on to’ Todibo until the summer at least. This suggests they may not be willing to sell him, and Spurs don’t seem to fancy their chances.

As a result, Tottenham are reportedly looking towards Dragusin instead. Even the prospect of him signing a new Genoa deal doesn’t seem to have fazed Spurs.

The Telegraph have also quoted reports in Italy as saying Tottenham are currently frontrunners in the race for the Romania international, ahead of the likes of Roma, AC Milan and Atalanta.

Tottenham Hotspur eyeing Genoa ace Radu Dragusin

Dragusin seems like he’d be a decent shout for Tottenham as a squad player and future prospect.

He’s young, talented, has a high ceiling, and seems both available and decently-priced (reportedly around £).

According to a report from , some inside the club believe that he has the potential to be even better than Cristian Romero.

Although Todibo is also a great option, the report suggests that Nice aren’t willing to let the ‘‘ £40million-rated defender go in the January transfer window.

With Tottenham desperately needing reinforcements at centre-back, they can’t really afford to wait until the summer before strengthening their ranks.
