Tottenham to provide ‘increasingly strong competition’ for 19-goal sensation

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Serhou Guirassy in recent weeks and speculation is intensifying ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs are fairly well stocked in attack at present, even though they didn’t bring in a like-for-like replacement for Harry Kane. Richarlison and Son Heung-min are both in great form.

However, there’s always score to bring in reinforcements. Now, it looks as though Tottenham may be eyeing the player currently just behind Kane in the Bundesliga top goal-scorers’ chart.

At the same time, Spurs will likely have strong competition from other top European sides for Guirassy, including the likes of AC Milan.

Guirassy, who has 19 goals so far this season, is apparently after a salary of €5million a year for four-and-a-half years, which would take him to the summer of 2028.

The report claims that this could be a bit steep for Milan. This works out at around £85,000-a-week, which would make him the 16th-highest paid player at Spurs ().

A prior report from Italy suggested Guirassy was after around £67,000-a-week. Although this latest report names a higher figure, it’s still not prohibitively expensive for Tottenham.

In addition, the 27-year-old has a release clause of just £15million. For a club like Spurs, this wouldn’t be massively steep.

Guirassy seems like a good shout for Tottenham, particularly in the January transfer window.

He’s talented, prolific, in his prime years, can be snapped up by triggering a modest release clause, and his salary demands should be easy for Spurs to meet.

Admittedly, there’s always the risk that Guirassy may need a while to acclimatise to the Premier League, or that his current purple patch may just be a flash in the pan.

In addition, would Guirassy join as a back-up to the likes of Son and Richarlison? Perhaps Milan might be able to offer him more regular starts.

If he was to be happy with potentially being a back-up at Tottenham, then for £15million, Spurs may as well snap him up.
