Tottenham teenager aims dig at Liverpool on Instagram

after scoring an excellent brace against the Reds for Tottenham’s Under-23 side on Saturday.

Devine, 17, is in his second season at Tottenham having joined the club from Wigan Athletic last summer. He is certainly turning heads.

Captaining England’s Under-19 side during the last international break, Devine has continued his brilliant form for Tottenham’s second string.

This season, he already has three goals and an assist from midfield. Two of those goals came in a 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday, at Stevenage.

Devine came through Liverpool’s ranks before moving to Wigan and then Tottenham – and he posted a dig in the direction of Liverpool on Instagram.

Tottenham star Devine posts dig: Should Liverpool regret decision?

Without a doubt. Liverpool are famed for their academy and their current side boasts plenty of homegrown talents shining on the elite stage.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Rhys Williams and plenty more. Harvey Elliott joined from Fulham, but he has benefitted from the academy.

So, while Liverpool have numerous talents breaking through, the decision to get rid of Devine – was a bad one. Of course, it is difficult to predict.

The decision was made when Devine was just 11, moving to Wigan not long after. So, a lot of his development should be attributed to the Latics.

But to captain England’s Under-19’s at 17, is a huge achievement. Liverpool should be looking at Devine and ruing the decision to let him go.
