Romero played his part by helping his side keep a clean sheet.

Tottenham target Rodrigo de Paul sends message to Cristian Romero
Romero started and played the full 90 minutes for Argentina against Croatia last night, and he had a very good game at the back.
Messi’s brilliance at the other end of the pitch will make all the headlines this morning and rightly so, but Romero and his fellow defenders deserve their praise too for preventing Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and co from scoring.
Romero registered five clearances, blocked two shots, and made one tackle. He was dribbled past just once in the entire game, which is a good return for a defender. ()
The Tottenham star’s brilliance at the back gives all the players in front of him the confidence they need to go and express themselves in the advanced areas of the pitch.
Rodrigo De Paul, a player Spurs have had an eye on for a while now, just loves playing in front for Romero, and he said the same in an Instagram message to the Tottenham man.
“How easy to play with you at the back,” he wrote under Romero’s Instagram post.
Manchester United star Lisandro Martinez commented: “Beloved Brother! Let’s go!”

Rodrigo De Paul rejected Tottenham last summer
Tottenham were very active in last summer’s transfer window, and they brought in quite a few players. One man they couldn’t sign was De Paul.
reported back in July that De Paul received an offer from Antonio Conte’s Tottenham and numerous other clubs to leave Atletico Madrid.
The £30 million () midfielder, however, decided to reject them all as he was happy under Diego Simeone at the Cívitas Metropolitano. But, just three months after that, it was reported by that De Paul and the Atleti boss didn’t see eye-to-eye anymore and he wanted out.
It will be interesting to see what will happen to the Argentine in January. Perhaps Spurs could make another cheeky bid to test the waters? Only time will tell.
