Tottenham target Domagoj Vida would be a big backwards step from Toby Alderweireld
Tottenham are reportedly interested in a move for Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida.
, Spurs have identified the 29-year-old as a potential target in the summer and manager Mauricio Pochettino is tracking him.
The Croatia international made a name for himself last summer as a World Cup runner-up and is a colossus centre-back.
He’s got a brilliant aerial ability and is demanding at the back, while he’s been a key player for Turkish club Besiktas this season.
But he’s not the defensive target that the North London club should be going all out for in the summer, as he would be a backwards step and wouldn’t fit into the playing out from the back system.

With Toby Alderweireld tipped wit a Spurs exit, Pochettino needs to find a top-class replacement at centre-back to slot into the side.
The 30-year-old could leave for just £25million () in the summer due to a clause in his contract and his potential exit would leave a major gap in defence.
Spurs do have Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth as young promising talents at the club, who would be far more suitable to replace Alderweireld than taking a gamble with enforcer Vida.
Pochettino needs to add players that can improve the side moving forward and the Besiktas defender wouldn’t guarantee that.
