Tottenham ‘superstar’ loves playing under Ange Postecoglou and doesn’t want to leave

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has been linked with a move away from Spurs in recent days.

For instance, Fabrizio Romano claimed on Tuesday that the Tottenham gem is on the radar of Fiorentina and Feyenoord.

More worryingly for those who’d hate to see Gil leave Spurs, the report also claimed that both continental clubs would like to discuss an option to buy.

Romano, writing on , said Spurs will look to make a decision about the 22-year-old “in the next days”.

However, Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has now reported that Gil is in absolutely no rush to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Thomas, speaking on Sky Sports News, says the Spaniard is enjoying the way Spurs train and play, and has a good working relationship with Ange Postecoglou.

The reporter also spoke of the interest from Fiorentina and Feyenoord before adding that it’s unclear whether Gil will indeed go out on loan.

“Bryan Gil is in no rush to leave Tottenham,” said Thomas, as transcribed on the .

“The winger is happy at Spurs and enjoying a positive relationship with head coach Ange Postecoglou.

“The Spaniard is enjoying the way Spurs play and train and, although he has not started many games this season, has regularly been used as a sub.

“Fiorentina and Feyenoord are among the teams interested in taking him on loan.

“It is not clear yet whether he will go on loan despite Spurs being set to bring in forward Timo Werner on loan.

“Heung-Min Son is at the Asia Cup and Tottenham are not blessed with an abundant squad.”

It’s good to hear that Gil is in no rush to leave Tottenham and seems keen on staying. This shows what a good job Ange Postecoglou has done in turning Spurs into a great place of work.

Thomas also makes a good point about Tottenham’s squad not being particularly abundant.

However, Postecoglou may well look to bring someone else in. In addition, if he can strike a deal to potentially sell Gil in the summer, he could well make the most of the opportunity.

Let’s see what happens in the coming days. Gil is a talented player, so it would be a shame to see him leave on any kind of loan-to-buy deal.

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts called Gil a “little superstar” in his early days at the club, testament to his talent and glimpses of quality he showed at Spurs. Let’s hope there’s more of that in the pipeline.
