Tottenham star’s brother Tweets: “Announce Romero”
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a move to sign defender Cristian Romero from Atalanta. The Argentina international has been seen flying to London, and even saying he was only ever joining Spurs. Now, Joe Rodon’s brother has cheekily Tweeted: “Announce Romero”.
Romero, 23, spoke to Gianluca Di Marzio on his way to the airport, saying he is keen on joining Tottenham. The Copa America winner, who won the best defender in Serie A football award last season, said he likes the project at Tottenham. That is why he has chosen to sign for the North Londoners.
The defender has completed a permanent move to Atalanta – and now, in turn, will join Spurs for a fee believed to be the best part of £50million. Some reports even suggest he completed the first part of his medical in Italy. A move might even be announced in the coming hours.
Does Romero start at Tottenham – as Rodon brother comments?
Without a doubt. Romero joins Tottenham and despite only being 23 years of age, he is easily the club’s best central defender. Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez struggled last season, Rodon is improving after a solid Euro 2020 campaign – while Japhet Tanganga could leave on loan this summer.
Romero is most-likely to partner England international Eric Dier as things stand, but the chances are that Spurs bring in another centre-back soon. Taking to Twitter, the brother of Rodon – who is renowned by Swansea and Tottenham fans for being outspoken –
