Tottenham star Serge Aurier reacts as Geoffrey Kondogbia completes Atletico move

Tottenham Hotspur star Serge Aurier has posted on Instagram after Atletico Madrid completed the emergency signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia from Valencia this week – with Atleti being allowed to bring in a replacement for Thomas Partey.

Partey, 27, completed a £45million move to Arsenal on deadline day – with a deal being confirmed in the final hour of the window. Atletico were unable to bring in a replacement for the Ghana international, who was a regular last season.

That saw Diego Simeone’s side appeal to be given the chance to make a signing outside of the window. They chose to bring in the former Monaco, Inter Milan and Sevilla midfielder for £9million (), signing a four-year contract.

Aurier – who came through the ranks at Lens alongside Kondogbia – reacted to his move on Instagram. He congratulated the midfielder, before sending a message to ex-Spurs star Kieran Trippier, telling the England ace to look after him.

TBR’s view – £9million is a bargain for Kondogbia

back in April that Tottenham were interested in the CAR international, along with Everton. So at just £9million, should Spurs and Everton regret failing to make a move for Kondogbia?

Well, both clubs improved their midfield options in the summer. Allan was bought from Napoli and Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford, while Spurs added Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to their side form Southampton – with all three shining.

Neither club should regret avoiding Kondogbia, but at £9million, he is certainly a bargain.
