Tottenham staff have been so impressed by attitude of 27-year-old who didn’t start vs Wolves
Timo Werner may be fighting to prove that Tottenham Hotspur should sign him permanently this summer, but it appears that he is impressing behind the scenes at Hotspur Way.
Timo Werner was a surprise signing for Spurs in the January transfer window. The 27-year-old arrived on loan with an option to buy for £15 million.
Werner had previously struggled with Chelsea. And he was not exactly featuring regularly for RB Leipzig before his switch to North London. But it appeared to be a risk worth taking for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Tottenham staff impressed with Timo Werner
Ultimately, if the move does not work out, Spurs have lost little. Meanwhile, if they can unlock his full potential, then £15 million could prove to be a bargain. And such a deal would surely not have been possible had he been thriving back at Leipzig.

Werner has actually provided two assists in the Premier League. But he is still awaiting his first goal for Spurs. And with Heung-min Son now back from international duty, Werner started the 2-1 defeat to Wolves on the bench.
Some have not been particularly impressed by Werner’s form at all. But according to , staff at Tottenham have been pleased with his efforts.
Spurs may face tricky decision on winger’s future
Some at RB Leipzig believe that Tottenham will decide to keep Werner. And if Spurs do decide to take up the option, it is hard to be too critical – unless it has any impact on the money they can spend on other targets.
But you do get the sense that he is going to need to step his game up over the remainder of the season, particularly as Tottenham are in a fight to make the top-four in the Premier League.
Werner has devastating pace. And he is someone who has scored over 100 goals for Leipzig across two spells. So there is definitely an outstanding player there.
The good news is he is working as hard as he can to prove to be a success.
