Tottenham set to welcome another 18-year-old ‘superstar’ in summer
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has certainly delivered his fair share of masterstrokes since taking the Spurs reins.
From the way Tottenham play to the recruits they’ve made, there’s very little that the 58-year-old has done wrong at N17 thus far.
One of the latest ones relating to the transfer market involved Spurs beating Barcelona to the agreed signing of Lucas Bergvall.
However, another decision on Postecoglou‘s watch relating to an 18-year-old joining Tottenham looks like it’s going to reap plenty of benefits.
Spurs signed Ashley Phillips for a reported £3million in the summer, and after he got used to the club’s training, they loaned him out to Plymouth Argyle.

And what a player he is turning out to be on loan in Devon. The Tottenham defender is delivering stellar performances time and time again.
Phillips’ debut against Huddersfield saw Sky Sports pundit Alan McInally give him some of the highest praise possible.
“Merse, remember about 20 years ago we spoke about a young full-back called Mr Trippier, I’ve got another one for us,” he said, as transcribed by .
“Ashley Phillips, 18 years old, on loan from Spurs, centre-back, boy’s gonna be a superstar!”
Tottenham talent Ashley Phillips ‘has really slotted in well’ at Plymouth
On Tuesday, the Tottenham gem delivered another solid display in the FA Cup fourth-round replay loss to Leeds, picking up an assist along the way too.
handed Phillips a seven out of 10 rating for his display and wrote: “Has really slotted in well to the role on the right of Argyle’s defensive trio under Ian Foster.
“It is easy to forget at times that the loan signing from Tottenham Hotspur is only aged 18, both in terms of his physical stature but his composure in the thick of the action.
“Came up with a great assist for Brendan Galloway’s Argyle equaliser.”
By the looks of it, Bergvall won’t be the only outstanding 18-year-old to link up with Tottenham in pre-season.
The way Phillips is developing, Spurs could have another fine addition to their already-strong centre-back ranks next season and beyond.
