Tottenham set to miss out on Ben Godfrey as he moves close to new Norwich deal
Highly-rated Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey is set to sign a new Carrow Road contract to ward off potential suitors,
They that the defender, who was instrumental in the Canaries’ promotion to the Premier League last season, is close to an agreement over a new deal.
The says that Tottenham were among the clubs chasing 20-year-old Englishman Godfrey, who was rated at around £20 million in the current market.
But a deal that would tie him to Norwich until 2024 would likely put paid to Spurs’ chances of landing Godfrey this summer, especially given their reluctance to pay premium prices for players.

Tottenham are actually well-stocked for younger central defenders, with Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez backing up Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
But the Belgian duo won’t be around forever and Godfrey looks like an England central defender of the future – so this could be one that Tottenham come to regret.
It’ll be interesting to see how Godfrey does in his maiden season in the top flight – it’s certainly a step up in terms of quality and Norwich will be on the back foot far more often than they were in he second tier last season.
