Tottenham scouting £26m World Cup midfielder likened to Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Fenerbahce’s Sebastian Szymanski in recent days.

According to a report from Turkish outlet , Spurs are ‘closely monitoring’ the £26million-rated attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile, have provided further information on Tottenham’s alleged interest in Szymanski.

They claim that Ange Postecoglou is after an energetic midfielder who can arrive late into dangerous areas.

Szymanski seems to fit the bill, and Spurs have apparently decided to send their scouts out to check the 24-year-old out.

However, Tottenham are far from alone in their pursuit of Szymanski, according to the report.

As well as Spurs, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, AC Milan and Inter Milan are apparently in pursuit of the Poland international.

Needless to say, should Tottenham decide to intensify their interest, they’d likely have a battle on their hands.

Tottenham target Sebastian Szymanski is a ‘pacey box-to-box midfielder’

Szymanski looks like a good shout for Tottenham, as he boasts a fair amount of experience at a high level, including the World Cup, the Europa League and the Eredivisie.

A No. 10 by trade, he can also play on the wings and even in defensive midfield, making him a versatile option for Postecoglou.

Interestingly, ‘s Jacek Kulig compared Szymanski – all the way back in 2016 – to a player now at Tottenham but facing an uncertain future, namely Giovani Lo Celso.

Kulig deemed Szymanski a ‘creative, energetic and pacey box-to-box midfielder’ known for his quick feet, speed of movement and close control, and also a set-piece specialist.

Tottenham were one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during a quiet transfer window, bringing in three new players.

Two of those – Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner – are already at the club and playing, while Lucas Bergvall is set to arrive in the summer.

With Postecoglou having already revamped his squad – both in terms of signings and improving those who were already at the club – he’ll no doubt look to carry on in the summer.

Let’s see what happens regarding Szymanski. He looks like a top talent, isn’t overly expensive, and is apparently ready for a big move this summer.
