Tottenham reportedly want London-based star that claimed he rejected Arsenal in 2019

Tottenham are considering a move to sign on-loan Fulham defender Joachim Andersen from French club Lyon after impressing against Spurs recently – and his comments about Arsenal in 2019 will only entice Spurs fans more.

Andersen, 24, has starred on loan at Fulham after Lyon decided to allow the Denmark international to join Scott Parker’s side for the 2020-21 season – after overcoming a long-term ankle injury. He has even worn the captain’s armband this term.

The three-time Denmark international has started a consecutive 24 Premier League games for Fulham and in a recent 1-0 defeat to Tottenham – Andersen impressed, keeping Harry Kane quiet. Fulham do not have a permanent option for Andersen.

Lyon might be willing to give him another chance unless they receive a figure deemed acceptable and Spurs are keen. He almost moved to London in 2019 with Arsenal, but Andersen said he chose to turn them down for European football at Lyon.

“There were good clubs, but Lyon was the best choice for me,” , when asked about Arsenal’s interest in 2019. “I wanted to develop as a player, play the Champions League, fight for the title and Lyon was the best solution.”

TBR’s view – Andersen would be a sensational Tottenham addition

But it is whether they can afford him. LWOS claim Lyon signed Andersen for £20.5million and given he has now proven himself in the Premier League, returned to the international fold and is only 24, he is likely to cost a whole lot more than that.

If Spurs can arrange a fee in the region of £30million, then they have got themselves a good deal in a move that would probably suit all parties involved. Certainly, it would give Spurs a long-term solution to their defensive issues.
