Tottenham reportedly want defender that Bobby Zamora claimed has a ‘bit of arrogance’ just this month

It has been a rollercoaster month for Brighton ace Ben White. A surprise inclusion in the initial 33-man squad was then followed by being named in the Euro 2020 squad. Now, his summer could get even bigger with Tottenham linked. Bobby Zamora gave his verdict on White earlier this month, which will surely excite Tottenham fans.

White, 23, was an unknown to Premier League fans when he joined Leeds on loan from Brighton in the summer of 2019. But his performances immediately caught the eye. His form was excellent as he played every minute of the Yorkshire side’s 49 games, helping the gain promotion.

He returned to Brighton and has enjoyed a brilliant first season in the Premier League. White has played at centre-back, the right of a three-man defence or even in holding midfield. His form has not gone unnoticed, with Gareth Southgate handing him a place in the Euro 2020 squad this summer.

But clubs have also sat on the edge of their seats at the rise of White. Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are battling Tottenham for the £50million-rated ace. Speaking about White after his initial dropping out of the 33-man squad, Zamora labelled him as arrogant.

“I remember Ben when I was at Brighton,” Zamora told Brighton’s official website earlier on in June. “Ben was a young lad who would come up and train with us. He had confidence and a little bit of an arrogance about him. Not too much, just from playing with the pros and not shying away.

“That goes a long way and you can see that now with how he is on the ball. I think he’s had a fantastic season this year. He’s looks a really good talent,” Ex-Spurs and Brighton striker Zamora added. “He has a very bright future, and I can see him wearing an England jersey in the future.”

Tottenham really need White amid Zamora comments, but are they going to spend £50m?

White would be a stunning signing. Now an England international, he is a brilliant player. He offers versatility, he is homegrown, and he is getting better and better. Proven to be one of England’s best defenders, and one of the best in the Premier League outside of the top six, Spurs need him.

But realistically, even with a new manager, is Daniel Levy going to splash out a whopping £50million on one player? Spurs need additions in numerous positions. So, signing White is unlikely but they could really do with him in the coming months. No deal is likely until after Euro 2020.
