Tottenham reject Saudi approach for their £26m defender
Tottenham Hotspur have received a bid this weekend for Brazilian defender Emerson Royal, as the Saudi Pro League comes to life again.
Offers from Saudi clubs were common place in the summer but things have quietened down a touch in the January window thus far.
However, it looks like Saudi clubs are now making moves and according to The Sun’s Tom Barclay, Al-Nassr have this weekend made a move for Emerson Royal.

Taking to his social , Barclay has confirmed that Tottenham have received the bid and swiftly rejected it.
The ‘fantastic‘ Royal has played a key role for Spurs this season amid a backdrop of serious injury problems.
Tottenham’s move to reject the bid comes as no surprise, given they lack the depth of some of the other top teams in the league at the moment.
However, given they paid a big fee of for Emerson, if another offer comes in which sees them land a profit, then the Tottenham board could be tempted to cash in.
Tottenham right to reject Emerson Royal bid
As it stands, there’s no point in Tottenham accepting any sort of bid for players like Emerson Royal.
Yes, there is the argument that he might not be the best player in this Spurs squad but he has still done well at times this year and has showed himself to be a versatile squad member.
Ange Postecoglou might have been more open to this deal had the injury problems not been so bad this term.
At the moment, the club simply can’t afford to be losing players who are contributing at first-team level.
Naturally, if a huge bid comes, it might be too good to turn down. Likewise, Royal might be offered huge money and try to force the issue.
But as it stands, Spurs are right to stand their ground here.
