Tottenham ready to submit leading bid for ‘world-class’ forward Arsenal also want

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been fairly quiet in the transfer window thus far, with just one senior signing between the two clubs.

The Gunners are reportedly closing in on Riccardo Calafiori, but he’s not over the line yet. In terms of official signings, they have recruited England youth goalkeeper Tommy Setford for their academy.

Meanwhile the Lilywhites have brought Archie Gray to N17, while Lucas Bergvall has finally arrived from Djurgardens. Gangwon FC winger Yang Min-hyuk is said to be on the verge of joining Spurs too.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a number of attacking reinforcements, including one of Serie A’s standout talents.

Now, journalist Gianni Balzarini has provided an update on that front, claiming Spurs are now ready to make a bid that would make the player’s club “jump for joy”.

Tottenham ready to bid for Arsenal target Federico Chiesa

The player in question is Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa, who has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks.

A report from earlier this week claimed the Italy international was “close” to Tottenham ahead of the likes of Napoli and Roma.

Now, Balzarini appears to have echoed those claims, suggesting Spurs are ready to make a bid that would exceed that the Italian suitors can offers.

quote the Italian football journalist as saying: “I confirm that Tottenham are interested in Federico Chiesa.

“That is, Tottenham would be ready to make an offer of around €30million (£25million), maybe even a little more, for Federico Chiesa and Juve could practically jump for joy.

“In the sense that it would be a figure that goes beyond the €20-25million (£17-21million) that Roma or Napoli offered or could eventually offer.”

Tottenham and Arsenal target Chiesa once tipped to become ‘best player in Europe’

Chiesa has been superb for Juve over the years and, at 26 years of age, he’s entering his prime.

He has made 131 appearances for the Turin-based outfit, grabbing 34 goals and 25 assists, and has also won 51 caps for Italy, scoring seven times.

Former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli told La Nazione in 2020, via : “Chiesa must specialise in what he feels is his natural tactical position.

“If he does this, he will become the best player in Europe.”

Meanwhile, former Italy defender Alessandro Pierini described Chiesa to Tuttomercatoweb – via  – as “world-class” back in 2021.

This summer would certainly be the best time for Chiesa to make a big move to the Premier League and test himself there.

Spurs currently appear to be in the lead, but Arsenal cannot be discounted, particularly as they are in the Champions League next term and will also hope to challenge for the Premier League title once again.
