Tottenham ready to make move for 25-year-old Ancelotti called ‘really good’; he’ll cost £20m
Tottenham Hotspur scouts have been really impressed by Ben Godfrey, with Everton willing to sell the defender for £20 million during the January transfer window.
That is according to a report from , which notes that a new centre-back is a priority for Spurs during the upcoming window.
Ben Godfrey‘s time at Everton appears to be coming towards an end. The 25-year-old has only played one Premier League game for the Toffees this season. He has been an unused substitute for every other fixture in the top-flight.
Tottenham ready to press ahead with Ben Godfrey move
Tottenham are scouting Godfrey. And is now reporting that they are planning to press ahead with a move next month, with their scouts impressed by the defender.

The report adds that Everton will be prepared to let Godfrey leave for an initial £20 million. It is noted that Tottenham are also admirers of Toffees teammate Jarrad Branthwaite, but no move is likely in the January window.
A move which may suit all parties
Tottenham may sense that next month is an ideal time to sign Godfrey. Clearly, they believe that he has real potential. Certainly, they must be convinced that he can make an impact in the right team in the Premier League.
So they may feel that signing him while he is largely frozen out at Everton is a gamble worth taking. Obviously, it will alarm some Spurs fans that they are targeting a deal for someone who cannot get in the team of a side in the bottom three currently.
But Godfrey is someone Carlo Ancelotti once labelled ‘‘. And clearly, Ange Postecoglou has an ability to take certain players to the next level.
So it may well prove to be one of those deals that all sides prove to be happy with if something can be agreed in the January window.
