Report: Tottenham now ready to sign ‘incredible’ £51m man, just a month after Liverpool bid

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to challenge Manchester United for Ajax star, Antony, according to a report from

The journalist has published his weekly newsletter via The Independent and in there, he claims that Tottenham are Manchester United’s competition when it comes to signing the Brazilian winger.

with reports just this week suggesting a deal was just a matter of time before it was completed. Of course, the appointment of Erik ten Hag has led to a number of Ajax players being linked, with Antony one of their top stars.

But Delaney writes how Tottenham should also be considered when it comes to the tricky winger. Interestingly, this new interest comes just a month down the line from Liverpool reportedly considering him. Of course, the Reds have since signed Darwin Nunez, which all but ends their pursuit of Antony.

Erik ten Hag has previously lauded Antony as an ‘incredible‘ player, so it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see him wind up at Old Trafford. However, Spurs under Conte are tempting, and are already making waves this summer.

Tottenham are also said to be willing to offer up Steven Bergwijn for the Brazilian, which could shift the balance in their favour.

TBR’s View: Antony Would Bring Something Different To Tottenham

Spurs are building themselves a nicely put together squad with Fabio Paratici leading the charge under the watchful eye of Conte. They are making quick moves for players and are proving an attractive choice of club.

A signing like Antony would be an eye-catcher. He is a barrel of tricks and flicks but crucially, he does deliver end product as well. His 12 goals and 10 assists last year prove that.

Ajax are thought to value Antony around the £51m mark. But Tottenham have shown they aren’t fussed about spending on the right player, and if they did make their move, the Ajax man would have a big decision to make.
