Tottenham keen on Sunderland’s Tom Watson as Brighton see £2m bid rejected

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Brighton & Hove Albion have seen a bid for Tom Watson rejected.

However, we understand a host of clubs are😼 ready to bat🍸tle for the 18-year-old Sunderland winger.

Brighton saw an offer of around £2million rebuffed earli𒉰er ꦿthis week – but they are ready to go back.

TBR Football can also confirm that Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Everton have also shown an interest in the 18-year-old.

Watson h༺as just 18 months left on his current deal at the🍃 Stadium of Light and they don’t want to lose him.

One option🌜 for an inter🎃ested party could be to sign him and allow him to remain on loan at Sunderland until the summer.

Sunderland, for their part, are hoping Watson ⭕could agree a new deal.

Arsenal have also been scouting Watson, along with Sunderland teammate Cꦇhris Rigg, this season.

What Watson could bring to the Premier League

Watson has already made 13 competitive appeꦏaran💦ces for Sunderland, registering two goals.

He was handed his Blacꦍk Cats debut in April 2023 at just 17 years and 10 days old, coming on in a Championship draw with Huddersfield.

Wat💝son has quickly established himself in the Sunderland side in the absence of the injured Romaine Mundle.

He made 🥂his first Championship start for Sunderland in November 2024 and, a month later, he scored his first two goals in a win over Stoke.

Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris told after the game: “Players ༺need time to adapt. But, so far, Tommy has developed very fast.

“Now he will face the 🌃difficulties every player has to face, such as consistency and needing to defend as well. There are many things to develop.

“It was an interesting game for him. When you have a wi𒆙nger with the ability to run inside and outside and cross, it’s a gift for a coach and a team.

“He works well. The system is well design🍌ed for hi🌞m. We can use him very quickly and play to his main strengths.

“He’s powerful, he🧸 can dribble, he can move inside and outside and he scored. He’s very strong, a very good winger in this league.”
