Tottenham predicted lineup: Gil and Ndombele to come in as two of eight changes

Tottenham play Stade Rennes in midweek and Nuno Espirito Santo is set to ring the changes.

The Lilywhites fell to a dreadful 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday in a turgid performance.

Next up for the club is a Thursday night Europa Conference League game, where we’re expecting eight changes from the lineup on Saturday.

Only Japhet Tanganga, Harry Winks and Lucas Moura are expected to keep their places.

This comes as a result of the fact that on Sunday Tottenham will be hosting Chelsea.

That league game is far more important than the midweek European tie.

We are expecting to see some more creative options come in, as well as a rotation of youth options.

The 4-3-3 system that we’ve grown accustomed to with Nuno should feature, starting with Pierluigi Gollini in goal.

In the back four, Tanganga, after his red card in the Premier League, is expected to start at centre-back alongside Joe Rodon.

In midfield is where it gets interesting.

With Oliver Skipp clearly not 100% on Saturday he’ll get a rest on Thursday.

In his place will be young Nile John, with Winks and Tanguy Ndombele alongside him.

Ndombele won’t be the only creative option, though, as he’ll be able to play in tandem with Bryan Gil.

We have the Spaniard starting on the left of the front three.

Lucas, the third and final man keeping his place, will start on the right, with Dane Scarlett through the middle.

There will be plenty of options for tweaks on the night, as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will no doubt travel and be on the bench.

One of the key factors for Nuno will be avoiding any further injuries.

If Tottenham can get to the Chelsea game with a positive result in Europe and no further setbacks then it will be a roaring success.
