Tottenham have been offered perfect opportunity, despite lack of summer signings
Fans of Tottenham Hotspur were crying for out for the club to make some new signings this summer and there’s no denying the fact that Mauricio Pochettino could have improved a few problem positions within his squad.
However, the introduction to some of the academy’s top talents in pre-season was a welcomed sight, and a strong indication of how well the club is doing at producing some of the very best players England has to offer.
Although no signings were made, this allowed the youngsters to get some much needed time on the pitch, time they may not have had if Pochettino had signed more players.
With the Premier League season underway, and the next transfer window not open until January, there seems no better time than now for Pochettino to try and test the young talent the club has to offer by pitting them against the Premier League’s best.
Pochettino was initially quick to promote young talent at the club. However, due to the rise of stand out performers such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Davinson Sanchez becoming constant features in his starting XI, the promotion of youngsters has taken a back seat.
With the lack of signings this summer, a void has opened for the enigmatic Argentine boss to fill and there are certainly two stand out academy talents from preseason who deserve the opportunity to do so.
Luke Amos and Oliver Skipp both impressed during Tottenham’s ICC competition win and 21-year-old Amos, in particular, staked his claim at a chance to compete for first team honours this season.
Amos was given a cameo appearance off of the bench against Newcastle last weekend, which suggests that the Spurs boss may be more than open to the idea of using the tremendous young talent he has at his disposal.
However, to push the young talent at the club, they need more than just a few minutes on the pitch. Now, Pochettino and his staff have no better chance than to champion their youngsters and give them a real go of it in the top flight of English football.
