Tottenham now want to sign £35m ‘one-man army’ ahead of PSG

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on France Under-21 midfielder Manu Kone ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs are seemingly looking to bolster their ranks in wake of a wobble in form after numerous injuries and suspension.

Midfield is an area Tottenham could look to strengthen as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg continues to be linked with a move away from Spurs.

In addition, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are set to compete at the Africa Cup of Nations at the start of 2024.

Now, according to Rudy Galetti, Tottenham are following Kone, who has been shining for Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.

As well as Spurs, Liverpool are apparently in pursuit of the 22-year-old, the journalist reported on .

In addition, French giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly added him to their wishlist too.

Kone certainly fits the bill as an Ange Postecoglou signing for Tottenham.

He is a top talent who, at just 22 years of age, has a high ceiling and plenty of years ahead of him.

Admittedly, it has not been a great season for Kone, who hasn’t featured much due to injury and suspension.

Nevertheless, he’s an outstanding player who has earned plaudits from many peers and commentators in recent years.

For instance, claimed in summer that Kone ‘will become one of Europe’s best’.

Meanwhile, Jacek Kulig of lauded his display against Bayern Munich in February, deeming him a ‘one-man army’.

In addition, outing website wrote a comprehensive report on Kone last year, in which they sung his praises.

‘Kone has been one of the most impressive players in the Bundesliga this season,’ they wrote at the time. ‘Showcasing his versatility, athleticism, and technical ability.

‘Standing at 6’1”, Kone is an imposing figure in midfield, but he also possesses great speed and agility.

‘This allows him to cover a lot of ground on the pitch and make an impact both defensively and offensively.

‘In addition, Kone is a very good passer of the ball and has an excellent work ethic.’

In terms of his price tag, Fabrizio Romano said on X in the summer that Kone could be available for €35/40million (around £30/35million).

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. Tottenham will certainly fancy their chances of signing Kone, but Spurs are up against some stiff competition.
