Tottenham now told to pay £80m for player Ange Postecoglou really wants to sign this summer

Tottenham will have to pay £80m to lure Pedro Neto away from Wolves this summer – a player Ange Postecoglou is desperate to sign.

That is according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

So, what is the latest on Tottenham target Pedro Neto? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham told to pay £80m for Pedro Neto

Well – according to – Postecoglou wants Spurs to sign the Portugal international this summer.

Neto has enjoyed a tremendous 2023/24 campaign under Gary O’Neill so far, scoring goals and providing 11 assists in 19 appearances across all competitions.

The Wolves No.7’s superb form has understandably seen his value rise, and he is now being valued at £80m by those at Molineux.

Ornstein in The Athletic: “Neto is having a brilliant season and that naturally makes him one to watch in the next transfer window. First thing to say is there’s no guarantee he leaves Wolves. He’s under contract until 2027 and the club are on course for a much higher finish than they would have budgeted for, which strengthens their footballing and financial outlook.

“It would also take around £80m for Wolves to part with Neto, as I understand it, and that is another obstacle. So far there has been no concrete movement ahead of the summer, so it’s impossible to say where he is most likely to end up.”

Tottenham may abandon Timo Werner deal

If Postecoglou really does want Neto in north London, it could see Tottenham give up on a permanent deal to sign Timo Werner – for financial reasons as well as in regards to squad competition.

As things stand, Spurs have an option to buy the German for £17m this summer when his loan spell ends – with RB Leipzig actually expecting that purchase clause to be triggered.

However, if Wolves genuinely hold out for £80m to sell Neto – which they are certainly entitled to do – then it could see Tottenham decide to save money by abandoning a deal for Werner, who also plays in attacking positions.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the 23-year-old is firmly on Postecoglou’s radar by the sounds of things.
