Tottenham now reportedly want to sign ‘world-star’ midfield talent likened to Jack Wilshere

With the Premier League season grinding to a halt due to the World Cup, Tottenham Hotspur can now take stock of their season so far.

And despite being in the Premier League top four and the last 16 of the Champions League, Spurs will probably feel they could’ve done better.

There’s a good chance that Spurs could delve into the January transfer market in pursuit of first-team ready recruits.

However, there’s always scope for clubs to look at bringing in talented youngsters to turn into top players.

And according to reports in Italy, Tottenham are eyeing one of the most highly sought-after young midfielders in the world.

, via , claim that Spurs have set their sights on Fenerbahce prodigy Arda Guler.

Despite being just 17, the youngster has already clocked up 29 senior appearances for his club.

Guler has also registered six goals and six assists, and has already been called up to the Turkey national team.

As well as Tottenham, the likes of Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in pursuit of the player.

“Exceptional ball carrier”

Guler, one of the most highly-rated teenagers in world football, joined the Fenerbahce academy in 2019.

At the start of the 2021-22 campaign, they promoted him to their first team.

Guler finished the campaign with three goals and three assists from 16 appearances in all competitions.

Scouting website wrote an in-depth analysis piece about the young midfielder earlier this year.

‘An advanced playmaker by nature, who likes to be fielded in a free role, where he can roam the pitch,’ they wrote.

‘The Turkish midfielder is very much capable of playing in a deeper role as well.

The standout ability, though would be to find space and pick out passes that very few other players can see.

‘Guler has also great close control and that is shown by his 1v1 dribbling, providing dynamism to his and the team’s final-third play. It doesn’t end here for the Turkish magician.

‘He is an exceptional ball carrier and that proves why he is often called the ‘Turkish Messi’, where he helps push his team forward to produce better chances.

‘His low centre of gravity means that he is very quick off-the-mark, which also helps aid his off-the-ball movements and orchestrate lethal moves from the deep.

‘Much like prime Ozil and De Bruyne his crosses are pinpoint and unpredictable.’

Former Real Madrid ace Mesut Ozil is a huge fan of his former teammate.

“A super goal and a super assist. Quality,” Ozil after Guler shone in March’s 5-2 win over Alanyaspor.

“You will be a world star.”

And on Twitter, fans have compared Guler to Jac and .
