Tottenham now hoping Fabio Paratici can help them sign ‘complete’ £30m midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to add a new midfielder to the ranks before Thursday and have reportedly made a move for Atalanta star, Ederson.

Spurs’ number one midfield target remains Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. However, a deal to bring Gallagher in appears difficult and Brazilian star Ederson is a more realistic target.

And according to reports from Italy, Tottenham have indeed made an approach of sorts for Ederson and could even have the help of Fabio Paratici to do the deal.

Tottenham using Paratici to help them sign Ederson

According to, Tottenham have made an approach to Atalanta to sign the midfielder.

The Brazilian is valued around the £30m mark and is believed to be open to coming to the Premier League.

Interestingly, the report claims that Fabio Paratici could even be working on helping Tottenham get the deal done. The Italian has helped Spurs on a few deals in the last six months despite not being directly employed by the club.

And now, it looks like Paratici is helping to move things along when it comes to Ederson.

It’s suggested Paratici is working to help Tottenham do a deal for Ederson and in turn, scupper Juventus’ hopes of signing him.

This is being claimed as a ‘revenge’ for Paratici in the report, after he was banned from football for his part in the scandal at Juventus previously.

Ederson an option

It’s not absolutely imperative that Tottenham sign a new midfielder before the deadline passes but it would certainly help them.

The big problem they seem to have is that they can’t shift on the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to make room in the squad and budget.

Of course, Spurs might be able to afford Ederson without that sale. But if they want to go big and get Gallagher, for example, then they have to get better at selling as well.

Ederson – described as a ‘ – is a good option for Spurs but there may also be a sense they’re settling for him because they can’t get Gallagher.

If that is the case, then they might be best served simply waiting it out until the summer.
