Tottenham must consider Houssem Aouar as perfect Mousa Dembele replacement
French side Lyon have been receiving plenty of praise this week after holding Manchester City to a 2-2 draw in the Champions League. It was the second time that Lyon had managed to avoid defeat against Pep Guardiola’s rampant side this season, earning a win at The Etihad earlier in the campaign.
After the game, plenty of Lyon’s young and talented players were receiving praise. One such player was Houssem Aouar. The 20-year-old was superb throughout the game and afterwards had Guardiola waxing lyrical.

In recent weeks it is Tanguy Ndombele who has been attracting Premier League interest, with Tottenham Hotspur one team said to be keen. But is his midfield partner the better option for Spurs?
“Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible.
“We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”
Tottenham are essentially looking for a Mousa Dembele replacement. The Belgian is set to leave the club in the summer and Tottenham want a new central midfielder in his place.
Against City, it was remarkable how similar in style and stature Aouar was to Dembele.
Clearly capable going forward he looked just as comfortable in a more defensive role.
that Tottenham would have to shell out £70 million to bring in Ndombele, perhaps Aouar is, in fact, the better option for Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino.
