Tottenham miss out on ‘fantastic’ £25m target as Manchester United make decision
Tottenham could still carry out more business before Friday’s transfer deadline – but Manchester United have now ensured one target for Ange Postecoglou will not be heading to north London.
Spurs have seemingly been trying to find a midfielder who can arrive late into the box and pop up with goals, hence why Tottenham attempted to sign Conor Gallagher before his move to Atletico Madrid.
The England international was a real livewire in a No.10 position on loan at Crystal Palace – notchin🍰g 11 goal involvements in 34 Premier League appearances in the 2021/22 campaign – before operating in a deeper role at Chelsea.
Now, an alternative box-crashing midfielder Tottenham want to sign is moving elsewhere…
Manchester United agree to sell Tottenham target Scott McTominay to Napoli
A story from now states that Manchester United have agreed a deal with Napoli for Scott McTominay.
Antonio Conte’s side will pay an i🌼nitial £25.4m to sign the ✃Scotland international.
It comes after claimed that Tottenham wanted to sign McTominay in a late summer move, although Spurs have no🎉w lost o𒁏ut to the man they sacked back in March 2023.

The Athletic add that Manchester United will replace the Scot with Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder Liverpool also looked ꦉat signing from PSG this summer.
McTominay – who has been calledꦕ a “fantastic” player – secur𓆏es his move to Naples after🌸 he shone in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring ten goals in 43 appearances for Manchester United, while also netting for Scotland at UEFA Euro 2024.
Spurs should avoid making another midfield addition
While Postecoglou could do with a goal✨scoring midfielder like Gallagher or McTominay, we feel that Tottenham should instead now focus on developing the midfield talent they already have.

Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are two players who fit into this category, both impressing throughout pre-season and off the bench in the 1-1 🙈draw against Leicester, albeit yet to make a competitive start.
Therefore, the arrival of another midfielder may block🌜 🍎the duo’s pathway into the starting XI, so at this stage of the window, we believe Tottenham should prioritise their own young talent.
