‘I would keep it open’: Romano says Paratici might yet sign ‘world-class’ international forward for Tottenham

Tottenham might have enjoyed a good transfer window this summer so far, but they might not be done either despite spending around £100m.

The likes of Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence, and Ivan Perisic have all arrived this summer to help strengthen the squad for Tottenham boss, Antonio Conte. Richarlison has also signed for big money, with players expected to depart in the coming weeks as well.

However, despite the big spending and certain players being shown the door soon, respected journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has told Spurs fans to keep an eye out for more deals. Especially, it seems, when it comes to Memphis Depay.

Speaking to , Romano was asked about Spurs signing Depay or James Maddison, and he insisted that the door needs to be kept open due to Fabio Paratici’s ways of working.

“I would keep it open honestly because Fabio Paratici, the director of Tottenham, always works in this kind of opportunity,” Romano answered.

Of course, it was only a week or so back that reports claimed Tottenham were the team pushing hardest to sign Depay this summer. Since then, it’s been suggested Depay has actually turned down the chance to sign Spurs.

TBR’s View: Depay To Tottenham Would Be A Surprise

It just doesn’t seem to fit right this one, really. Yes, Spurs are always looking to sign top players and Depay is a proven, ‘‘ operator at international level.

However, exactly where he fits in the Antonio Conte set up remains a mystery. He isn’t replacing a Kane or Son, and he isn’t any better than Richarlison, who Spurs have just splashed out on.

For now, then, it seems it’s off the table for Spurs and Depay. But as Romano also says, you just never know.
