Tottenham may miss out on signing ‘brilliant’ £65m star because of Richarlison
Tottenham Hotspur are struggling to sell Richarlison this summer.
Spurs have done a great job in this window, particularly with outgoings. Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga were all released, while the likes of Joe Rodon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were moved on to Leeds United and Marseille respectively.
Bryan Gil has been loaned out to Girona too, while young Troy Parrott was sold to AZ Alkmaar. Tottenham would like to sell a few more players in the coming weeks and Richarlison is one of them.
However, the fact that he hasn’t left yet has put Spurs’ move to sign one of their key striker targets in serious doubt.
Tottenham have one key issue in Dominic Solanke race
Tottenham are exploring a move to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in the coming weeks.
It is no secret at this point that Spurs need a new striker. Ange Postecoglou decided against replacing Harry Kane in 2023, and his side did a decent job without the England captain.
However, if Tottenham want to go to the next level, they need to bring in an out-and-out striker in this window.
Solanke has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs.
The Englishman scored 19 goals in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season – more than any Tottenham player including skipper Heung-min Son.
Jamie O’Hara believes Solanke would be a great fit at Tottenham, and we completely agree with him. We really think Spurs should get him.
However, have revealed that Bournemouth’s £65 million asking price is the issue.
The report claims that Spurs view that figure as ‘off-putting’ – particularly because they haven’t been able to raise funds by selling Richarlison in this window.
That is why it has been revealed that Tottenham are unlikely to meet Bournemouth’s demands for Solanke, who was branded as ‘‘ by Thierry Henry.

What’s the latest on Richarlison’s future
Richarlison hasn’t had a great time at Tottenham.
The Brazilian’s debut season at the club was a disaster – he managed just one goal in the Premier League all campaign, which is a shocking return. The Brazilian had a much better 2023/24 season, but he still hasn’t been able to justify his price tag.
TBR Football exclusively revealed in July that Tottenham want £60 million for Richarlison and he wants to leave too. But, his most likely destination – one of the big clubs in the Saudi Pro League – aren’t willing to meet those demands.
Clubs in the Middle East have made it clear to Tottenham that they will not pay over the odds for any player in this summer’s transfer window.
However, reports elsewhere have claimed that Tottenham remain ‘determined’ to sell Richarlison before the window shuts later this month.
It remains to be seen if that can help them fund a move to sign Solanke.
