Tottenham make contact over ‘complete’ full-back likened to Maicon as Emerson Royal replacement

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy on the transfer front this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his ranks.

The Spurs boss has laid some solid foundations in his maiden season at N17 and he’ll be eager to build on them in pursuit of a top-four spot.

Tottenham are also expected to have numerous outgoings, with several players appearing surplus to requirements at Spurs.

One of those is Emerson Royal, who has struggled to make his mark at Tottenham and is likely to leave Spurs over the coming weeks.

Now, a report from Brazil has claimed that Tottenham have set their sights on a replacement for Emerson.

The player in question is Monaco’s Vanderson and, according to , Spurs have made him their priority replacement at right-back.

Tottenham have already made the first contacts behind the scenes to understand how to proceed in possible negotiations, claimed the report.

Who is Tottenham target Vanderson?

Vanderson is a 22-year-old Brazil international who can play across the whole right flank.

He has been at Monaco since January 2022, when he joined from Gremio in a deal reportedly worth around £9million.

Vanderson has made 84 outings for the Ligue 1 side, registering six goals and nine assists. He has also won two caps for Brazil.

‘s Jacek Kulig profiled Vanderson in 2021, describing him as a “complete full-back” and likening him to Brazil icon Maicon.

His strengths include pace, dribbling, tackling, athleticism, technique, ball control, work rate and stamina, added Kulig.

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. Emerson is very likely to leave Tottenham, and it’s good to see that Spurs have reportedly identified a replacement.
