Tottenham loanee Clarke reacts as Leeds announce Bielsa departure
Jack Clarke has taken to Twitter to join the tributes being paid to Marcelo Bielsa after it was announced that he has left Leeds United in the wake of their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The writing appeared to be on the wall for Bielsa following the 4-0 loss. Leeds had their chances. And of course, they could have easily taken the lead through Pascal Struijk.

But ultimately, many inside Elland Road seemed to know what was coming. And a change has indeed now come, that Bielsa has left as they look to keep themselves in the Premier League.
Many Leeds United players have already taken to social media to comment on his departure. They have expressed their sadness about his exit, as well as their gratitude for everything he had done.

But it is not only members of the current squad who have sent Bielsa messages. Clarke – who, of course, left Leeds to join Tottenham in 2019 before initially returning on loan – thanked the Argentinian for everything he did for him.
Here is what Clarke posted following the announcement that Bielsa has left Leeds…
This man gave me my opportunity in football and too play for a club that has and always will be close too mine and my families hearts something that I will always be grateful for. Thank-you Marcelo for the opportunity and belief you had in me and many others💛💙

Bielsa departure from Leeds may be particularly poignant for Jack Clarke
It is easy to forget just how good Clarke was when he burst into the first-team at Leeds. He would change games when he came on – most notably, against Aston Villa in Leeds’ stunning comeback in 2018.
He quickly forced his way into the starting lineup. It was no surprise that Premier League sides came calling when Leeds failed to seal promotion during Bielsa’s first year at Elland Road.
Unfortunately, he has, so far, struggled to kick on. And in truth, it is hard to see Clarke getting a chance at Tottenham in the future.
So it may feel particularly poignant for the winger that Bielsa has now left Leeds given the promise he showed under him.
