Tottenham-linked Memphis Depay comments on Spurs ball boy on Twitter
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur managed to equalise against Olympiacos on Tuesday night through Harry Kane after good work from Lucas Moura, and a Spurs ball boy – and Memphis Depay has ordered Lyon’s ballboys to follow suit.
Spurs were 2-0 down during the first half against the Greek champions, before Dele Alli scored in first-half injury time. Thanks to the ball boy, Serge Aurier took a quick throw. It dumbfounded the Olympiacos defence, allowing Moura to cross for Kane.
Aurier himself got on the scoresheet before Kane made it four. Mourinho applauded Tottenham’s ball boy during the match and indeed after the 4-2 win in his press conference. Rumours have even claimed the ball boy is Mauricio Pochettino’s son, Flavio.
Tottenham are weighing up a £50million move to sign Memphis Depay from Lyon in the next window, but that did not stop the Lyon superstar from commenting on Tottenham’s ball boy.
This is a little detail that can win you a game! Please groupama stadium ball boy’s take note! We need everybody to be involved every game!
— Memphis Depay (@Memphis)
Depay has been in sensational form for Lyon this season, a completely different story from his struggling times at Manchester United. The Netherlands star managed just seven goals in 53 games while at Old Trafford.
But for both club and country this season, he has scored 14 goals in 18 games – as well as laying on six assists. The 25-year-old is quickly showing Manchester United what they could have had, if the Dutchman had been given time.
The chances of Depay moving to Tottenham following the appointment of Mourinho, though, are unlikely. Mourinho sold Depay just after half a season following the Portuguese manager’s move to Manchester United.
