‘Unbelievable’ player Tottenham courted all January enjoys stunning debut this weekend
As debuts go, they don’t come much better than what Adama Traore enjoyed for Barcelona this weekend.
The former Wolves winger, who was wanted all January by Tottenham Hotspur, got his first start back in Barcelona colours and didn’t disappoint the onlooking Catalans.

Traore enjoyed a particularly explosive opening 45 minutes and was on hand to burst down the wing and deliver an inch perfect cross to set teammate Gavi up to nod home emphatically. It was the perfect start for Traore, and a glimpse of what might have been for Tottenham fans.
Of course, Traore was a player Spurs wanted all January. There was even reports that Traore was a big fan of Antonio Conte’s and that he was open to the move to Tottenham. Naturally, when Barcelona came in properly, that essentially made the winger’s mind up for him.
Whether Traore can keep this level up, remains to be seen. However, after having his lack of end product brought up time and again, the Spaniard has got off to the perfect start in Spain.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Could Rue Missing Out On Adama Traore
It does remain to be seen how he does in the long-term but you can’t help but feel Tottenham and Traore would have been a good match.
Conte would have got the best out of the winger and we might finally have got to see the very best of a player who has so often flattered to deceive.
Tottenham fans, then, will be keeping close tabs on Traore over in Barcelona. If he does fly, then Spurs supporters will no doubt rue a missed opportunity.
