Tottenham landing reported target Saint-Maximin could spell trouble for Moura

Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for high-flying Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

, Spurs have expressed an interest in the French star, who has been one of the Premier League’s liveliest players since the restart.

The £16.5 million signing from Nice () has contributed a goal and three assists since the club’s first game back against Sheffield United last month, and looks set to finish the season strongly at St James’ Park.

After taking some time to settle, the 23-year-old now looks much more comfortable in the English top-flight, and it would appear he has drawn some attention to himself.

The Mail say Tottenham would be willing to offer the likes of Juan Foyth and Danny Rose permanently to sign Saint-Maximin.

It’s a transfer that would raise some eyebrows, and something that could spell trouble for one Lucas Moura in north London if it came to fruition.

The former Paris Saint-Germain attacker has been a relative regular under Jose Mourinho, but it could be argued that Saint-Maximin pitching up following the arrival of Steven Bergwijn would see his opportunities diminish considerably.

In his latest showing against Bournemouth, Saint-Maximin was practically unplayable for the Magpies, causing serious problems for the Cherries’ defence with his pace and dribbling.

Moura – who earns £80,000-a-week () – has shown similar attributes for Spurs over the past couple of years, but any Saint-Maximin arrival in north London would undoubtedly make his life harder in terms of getting regular minutes.
