Report: One year from Liverpool links, Tottenham now want ‘exceptional’ £30m midfielder instead of Raphinha
Tottenham have now added Inter Milan midfielder to their list of potential signings, according to a report from in Italy.
Spurs are facing up to the fact that it looks increasingly unlikely that they’ll land Leeds winger Raphinha, who is set to join Arsenal instead. The Brazilian is admired by Spurs but the Gunners feel they’ve almost got a deal for him done.
However, that doesn’t mean Tottenham won’t be signing anyone else in his place and has claimed that Antonio Conte is a big fan of the 72-cap Turkish international. It comes after comments from Calhanoglu over the weekend suggested that he would be happy to leave Inter. The midfielder has since suggested those comments might have been lost in translation.

But that hasn’t stopped rumours surfacing around Spurs’ interest. claims Inter value Calhanoglu around the £30m mark, should they look to sell.
Calhanoglu is a name that’s cropped up on occasion in the past when it comes to English teams. Indeed, he was said to be being considered by both Arsenal and Liverpool last summer. Dubbed an ‘exceptional‘ footballer in the past, the 28-year-old has played for both clubs in Milan after spells in Germany.
TBR’s View: Calhanoglu An Interesting Option For Tottenham
He isn’t quite on the level of Raphinha but Calhanoglu is a good player in his own right. He has played 100s of games in a successful career and is certainly proven in Serie A, where Conte will be well aware of him.
Interestingly, it’s claimed Spurs could offer up a swap deal involving Davinson Sanchez or Gio Lo Celso to land the Turkish star. On that front, it might turn out a smart signing.
Calhanoglu could be a solid addition to Spurs. His versatility and experience could be handy, and his quality is obvious.
