Tottenham Hotspur will hope bogeyman Gonzalo Higuain does not feature in Chelsea second-leg
Chelsea’s toothless display against Arsenal at the weekend highlighted their increasing need to bring in a new striker. Gonzalo Higuain is considered the most likely recruit. the £170,000-a-week star is expected to join on a loan deal until the end of the season. The hope is he can be in place to feature against Tottenham Hotspur in the second-leg of their League Cup clash on Thursday.
Tottenham fans would undoubtedly be very wary of his presence. Given what happened in another two-legged tie against Higuain last season, they have every right to be.
It was a quick-fire double from Higuain that had Juventus 2-0 up after nine minutes of the tie between Spurs and the Turin side in the Champions League final 16 last season.

Luckily, he lost his shooting boots after that and Spurs went on to draw the away tie 2-2. However, at Wembley, Higuain struck again. He scored the equaliser in the 61st minute before slotting in Paulo Dybala to score what proved to be the winner. Three goals and one assist in two games against Tottenham last season makes him something of a bogeyman.
Whilst Tottenham fans will be confident they can get the better of any team, there is no doubt they would rather not face the wiley Argentine in a crucial cup clash for the second season in a row.
