Tottenham Hotspur fans react as Vincent Janssen exit is confirmed
Vincent Janssen has left Tottenham Hotspur. The club confirmed on their official website last night that the Dutchman had completed a surprise move to Mexican outfit Monterrey.
Happy to join , looking forward to see you all soon.
Can’t wait to play for the CONCACAF Champions. ??— Vincent Janssen (@vincentjanssen)
Tottenham spent £18.6 million on the Dutch international in the summer of 2016.
It came after he had scored 32 goals in 49 games in the previous season with AZ Alkmaar. Tottenham had hoped he could be long-term competition and back-up to first-choice striker Harry Kane.
However, Janssen failed to live up to expectations during his time in London and he has now left on the cheap.
Monterrey have paid just $7 million (£5.6m) for the player.
Janssen’s record at Spurs does not read well. He managed just six goals in his debut season with the club, most of which came from the penalty spot.

He then had a spell on loan at Fenerbahce before a serious foot injury had him spending a significant spell on the sidelines.
But despite his troubles, Tottenham fans always had something of a soft spot for the Dutchman. Whilst he clearly struggled at the club, it was clear he was always ready to put in the effort to try and improve.
Unfortunately, he never had the physical attributes needed to be a star in English football.
Here is how some Tottenham fans have reacted to his impending departure…
Best of luck Vinny, such a shame it never worked out the player as he always gave his everything and tried his best in the games he played however he was never really up to the standard of where the club is now.
Sincerely hopes he now goes on to rekindle his career in Mexico.

I can’t be the only one who loved him. Throwback to him celebrating a pre season tournament win like we just won the champions league ??. Good luck Vinny ?

seemed like a nice guy, always put in his best and never made a fuss despite not being given much of a chance and being pushed out on loan, there’s no reason to dislike him, not his fault there was so much expectation on him

Tottenham have reached agreement with Mexican side C.F. Monterrey for the transfer of Vincent Janssen.
A huge bust but hopefully he has a prosperous career elsewhere.
