Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing a £30m attacker who Pep Guardiola once called ‘exceptional’ this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Ange Postecoglou’s side enjoyed a year of progression last term and returned to Europe after a season absence.

Though, he’ll now be keen to go one better and finish in the top four, thus qualifying for the illustrious Champions League.

To do that, Spurs’ squad will need investing in and with that said, it has just emerged that they’re keen on signing a former Manchester City player.

Tottenham Hotspur interested in Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres

According to the (page 66), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

The Catalan giants want to sign Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal from City but need to offload Torres before they can submit a £20m offer.

Such is why Spurs, Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham United have been put on a red alert this summer.

They’ve all been informed that Torres is available with a £30m price tag mooted.

Ferran Torres statistics

Torres, who Pep Guardiola once called ‘exceptional’, netted 11 times whilst laying on four assists for Barca last season.

Some of his statistics make for impressive reading as he sits in the top two per cent for non-penalty goals per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Further, he also ranks in the top 13 per cent for non-penalty expected goals plus assisted goals, evincing his threat in the final third.

If Spurs do land his signature this summer, it’d be an exciting acquisition.
